Why Pride Still Matters — Especially Here in Frisco

Every June, cities across the country explode with color, joy, and celebration as the LGBTQ+ community and its allies come together to honor Pride Month. But Pride is about so much more than parades and rainbow flags — it’s about visibility, belonging, and resilience.

For 25 years, Frisco Pride has been a beacon of that resilience right here in Frisco and Collin County. As the area’s oldest and longest-running LGBTQ+ organization, we’ve seen first-hand how powerful it is to create safe spaces in communities where acceptance hasn’t always come easily.

Our mission is rooted in connection. Whether you’re gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or an ally, Frisco Pride exists to make sure no one feels alone in their identity. What began in 2000 as a small group of passionate residents has grown into a fully incorporated nonprofit, and since 2023, a public charity — a sign of just how far we’ve come, and how committed we are to what comes next.

This Pride Month, we celebrate not just who we are, but where we are. In the heart of Frisco — a city growing more diverse every day — we are proud to be part of the change. Join us as we continue to uplift, support, and advocate for LGBTQ+ lives in our hometown and beyond.

Because Pride isn’t just a month. It’s a movement. And it starts right here, with us.
