Remembering Michael Norman

A Bright Light in Our Community

It is with a great deal of sadness that we share that one of our long-time friends and neighbors, Michael Norman, passed away suddenly this week. Details are not yet fully known, and our hearts go out to his family and loved ones during this time of grief.

Michael was a familiar face to many in the Frisco LGBTQ+ community, having been involved with Frisco Pride since the mid-2000s. Whether he was attending an event, supporting a cause, or just showing up with that signature smile of his, Michael brought warmth and positivity wherever he went.

With a quick wit and a disarming sense of humor steeped in Southern charm, he had a unique ability to make people feel instantly welcome. He was the kind of person who could light up a room with a one-liner or lift a friend’s spirits with a few kind words. Michael’s presence was always felt — never loud (well, sometimes), but always deeply genuine.

In more recent years, Michael found joy and purpose through his involvement with the International Gay Rodeo Association and the local chapters in Texas and Dallas area. He was passionate about the rodeo community, serving in a number of leadership roles, and it gave him another way to celebrate who he was and connect with others who shared his love for authenticity, friendship, and country spirit.

As we mourn Michael’s sudden passing, we also celebrate the life he lived — full of charm, laughter, and unwavering kindness. He was part of the fabric of our local LGBTQ+ history, and his impact will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Michael. Thank you for sharing your light with us all.
